Trying out Shorty Wet Suit

 


 

Sunday Morning, Rich Kearsley invited me to breakfast at the Star Streams Cafe. I attended First UU where Advent was discussed in the sermon by the reverend Jonalu.

In the afternoon Connie and I went out to Decker lake to try-out out my new wet suit. It was partly cloudy the temperature the air temperature was 68 degrees or maybe a little lower the water temperature was about 63 degrees or maybe a little lower. I found that the beach at Decker lake, (Walter E Long Lake) although gravel, is fronted by afield of large stones so if you go swimming at Decker lake you should wear water shoes. As a consequence I have bought water shoes.
So I walked down into the water in my wet suit. I expressed my feelings because it was cold by praising the Lord for all of his blessings. Meanwhile can Connie stood on the shore telling me to be careful and filming me for 36 seconds. After about two minutes or maybe 5 she encouraged me to get out of the water which I did because I love her and I've decided that for a short while the wet-suit will do fine are those times when I need to retrieve Bagatelle onto the trailer during the winter.

We drove home and I had some hot soup and a hot shower.

In the evening we went with Stephanie to hear the  First Presbyterian Church of Austin Christmas Chorale concert. It was beautiful to hear.

On Saturday I replaced the battery, On Bagatelle. I also started rebuilding My Roller topped Mast Crutch.

I tried to go sailing at Lake Somerville spent most of the morning trying to raise the mast. Once we had the mast up we went to launch the boat and found that the motor wouldn't run so we pulled the boat back out and I noticed in the morning that the bow eye was loose. On the way home there was some traffic on 290 coming in. I had to stop suddenly and since the boat wasn't really connected to the winch it slid forward past the winch and so now I have some gel coat to fix. Fort stockton texas I plugged in the car through the door into the room. El Paso, Texas at the Quality Inn. I ran the cable through the window which I could open and plug it in the room. Truth or consequences New Mexico I ran the cables through the window which I could open and plug it in the room. Albuquerque new mexico At the Red Roof Inn.. I parked close to an exterior plug plugged in the hallway, everything was good.  Crestview New Mexico at the super 8 I could open the window and run the cable through the window, plug it in the room. At The Quality Inn in Baton Rouge. I found an exterior plug by the pool charged the car there. In Lafayette Louisiana. I asked permission to run the cable through a door and plug the car in the hallway. In New Orleans, I stayed at a hotel. The Launch

On Thursday we got up messed around a little bit got out to the marina about 10:00 a.m. when I went into the marina office to say we wanted to launch, she said I could set up the boat on the north side of the parking lot. The problem with this plan was that by 10:00 the parking lot at the marina is full of cars for in the same Center there are five or six fishing and swimming and snorkeling excursions as well as three restaurants. So the parking lot is basically full by 10:00. We decided to go back to the hotel book another night. We parked the boat behind the hotel. We went sightseeing. Jim and I spent the afternoon touring the port Isabella lighthouse park  and the Port Isabel historical museum which resides in an old hardware store. We had a good time. For dinner we got some stuff at Walmart went back to the motel and I turned in early about 7:00 so we could get up early the next day to prepare the boat and launch.
