Bilge life lesson

Last time I was aboard Bagatelle, I left the Bildge pump off.
When you leave the bilge pump off on a sailboat that's on a trailer and it rains the bilge will fill up with water. When the bilge fills up with water, it will fill so high as it make the cabin sole wet. Which is why the cabin sole has got some rot.

Anyways so I came in and I found that the sole was wet, so I tried to lift the door to the bilge but when the bilge fills with water the door to the bilge swells and so it's difficult to open. I had to use a crowbar to open it.
I turned on the bilge pump, put it on auto, which is where it's supposed to be all the time. The bilge pump emptied the bilge until there was about half an inch of water in it.  Then I pushed the manual button to make it even more empty. So now I got a quarter inch of water in it.
So the life lesson is when you leave the boat, be sure to check that the bilge pump is set to auto .

Y'all have a nice day bye
