starting out

Tuesday May 30th started my trip we started our day by finishing some chores at Connie wanted us to do we trim the trees in the front yard piled them on the brush pile for the city of Austin to pick up. I packed some more stuff into the boat I packed my luggage Jim packed his.
I kiss the wife and we got on the road at about 1:30. We stopped periodically to check the bearings on the trailer and although the bearing that I replaced are the wheel of the bearing that I replaced continue to be warmer than all the other bearings it was still not too or hot to touch. So we continued on.
The trip was uneventful we headed for Corpus Christi and Padre Island our goal was to sleep at the National seashore on Padre Island.
We stopped for dinner at the HEB in flower mound Texas. We had a Mexican food it was good but since we had dinner at about sunset when we arrived at the National seashore it was after dark.
When I put in as a destination the National seashore into Google it claimed that I had to go 37 mi after I got on to Padre Island but in actuality the Bayside campground is only 7 miles from the turn on Padre Island.
We drove out to the campground we found a spot spot 16 backed the trailer up filled out our registration slip and put it in our slot in the board at the campground and then we turned in.
Jim  slept on a picnic table by the beach and I slept aboard the boat.
the next day was kind of fraught because I was unable to charge my phone in the boat since I didn't have a cable and Jim's phone service had expired. So he spent the day trying to get his phone service reestablished in an effort to help him we went to the Verizon store to see if they could help him but since he bought his card at Walmart they could not help him.
After I left the Verizon store I turned toosharply, too fast and hit the curb with the boat at speed which poped a tire.
We replaced the tire with the spare that I had in the truck. We drove to Walmart to see if we can get another tire but since we've bent the wheel, they could not replace the tire on the wheel. They did not have wheels so we searched Google to find a place that had wheels.
There is a place in Corpus Christi called Southern wheel and tire. That is where we went to get a replacement wheel. Outside of the store there was a fellow who did recycling. When I offered to give him my wheel and tire he said he didn't want it because the money he could get for the steel rim would not offset the cost of  recycling the tire.
We traveled on carrying both the tires.
We left Corpus about 1:30 we arrived in Port Isabel about 6:30. We go out to the marina but the Marina's office shuts it 5:00 so we couldn't get in to put the boat in.  We drove back over to the mainland and found a hotel where we could spend the night.
First we went over to Pompano park a park in Pampano park that has dock space, and a restroom. A fisherman was there, he said although the slips for only $35 a day parking was $2 an hour and that would raise price to $60 a day. So we drove across the street and stayed at the Casa Rosa Inn.

This backs on an alley where we could easily park the boat and get out so that's why we stayed there and it was only $75 a night.
