new Orleans with Connie Jack and Ellen

On Monday we started out for New Orleans. We drove down highway 90 as far as New Orleans and on the way Connie called the hotel to ask if they knew of any vets in the area. Then she perused Google maps to see if she could find any events in the area and she found one a few blocks from the hotel. So the vet that she found was our first destination New Orleans. The vet examined the dog checked her his blood and prescribed some drugs and advise Connie that traveling with an elderly dog was not wise. And I told her that she could take the dog home I would rent her a car so with that in mind we started our visit to New Orleans.
We went to our hotel and checked in. That evening we asked around and were advised to go have dinner at the Port O'Call restaurant. So we walked into the French quarter to the port O'Call and had a very nice dinner they had there was jazz playing atmosphere was nice and for a while we were happy.
On Tuesday after Connie got up we walked to the French market where she went through the market looking for a fanny pack we visited a few shops we went into a tarot which shop or Connie talked about wicking like stuff. Taro and herbs for her pains.
After visiting the French market wander back to the hotel and took a nap.
I found a fast charger a few blocks away from the hotel where I took the car and parked it and walked back.
In the evening I checked Google maps looking for jazz restaurants and I found one a few blocks away we went to listen to jazz and have dinner.
Although Connie asked for non-spicy food the food we were served crab cakes and gumbo was spicy so I got to have two meals instead of one Connie ordered bread.

Wednesday was a disaster.
In an effort to find that difficult to find fanny pack we decided to go search the thrift stores and the best thrift stores were outside of the French quarter so we got in the car. We drove to a thrift store near the freeway west of the French quarter and Connie looked around and didn't find any bags. But she did fine a blouse that she liked and she bought that.
After we left the thrift store we found we went to look for lunch and I found a Cajun fast food place that although the service was slow the food was good so after we left the Cajun fast food place we drove around trying to find a part to sit and eat but it started raining very hard so we just pulled over to the side and a neighborhood and had lunch while it rained on us very hard.
After lunch we found another thrift store further down the road and we started off in that direction while I was headed there I was directed by Google to turn right onto Martin Luther King boulevard and as I was proceeding down the road in the left lane a fire truck with the alarm blurring came up behind me and so I moved over to the Middle Lane to get out of his way but the traffic was very very heavy and when I went to move back into the left lane to turn left I didn't look and so somebody ran into the side of my car on the left side. We pulled off on the median to wait for the guy to come up so we can exchange insurance but they never showed up so we proceeded to the thrift store to wait for the police after we put in a police report but they never showed up so we called the police back and said we were going to proceed to our hotel. We went to the hotel and took a nap. After my nap, I drove the car over to the charging station and walked back.
I took pictures along the way.
About 7:00 I a police woman came  to take the report. She drove us over to the car to inspect the damage she made a report and gave us a copy. We drove back in the car
Connie gave Ellen a call to ask her to come and join her on her trip back home and Ellen said she'd come.
Ellen later told us that she couldn't make it for 2 days so this being Tuesday, Ellen would be able to make it before Thursday.
Wednesday was a down day, Connie swam, I walked the dog. I got  food from the local health food store. In the afternoon we went to the Mint/Jazz History museum.
Thursday I got up early and drove to the new Orleans Marinas on Lake Poncitrain.
I took pictures of ducks and the Marina.
after I got back to the hotel about noonish we went to pick up Ellen.
That evening we took Ellen out to the Port O Call restaurant.
I took the car back to charge, but thought I'd skate back. You as well skating back that I realized that New Orleans is not a good town for skating the roads are crap. While I was skating in the dark on a rough road I thought I'd get on the sidewalk where it was smoother and as I was skating on the sidewalk I hit a sandbag and an empty manhole cover and fell cut my arm on a water meter cover. It hurt a lot.
t be above photo is of the spot where I fell.
The next morning I skated back through the linear Park along the Mississippi River to get the car and I had no mishaps. After I got the car Connie Ellen and I drove to see an art museum near the world war II museum the art museum is free the world war II museum is 35 bucks a person we had a good time looking at art.

After the art museum Connie Ellen and I drove over to the car rental place and they rented a car I drove the car back to the charging station and plugged it in and skated back to the linear part to the hotel.
That night we ate in we didn't go out.
The following morning I got up early I skated back to the linear Park to the car drove back to the hotel parked it behind the hotel then I walked the dog I packed my belongings and Connie and Ellen were going to leave later so I left.

Thus ended my very eventful trip in New Orleans.
