traveling to Silver City and Albuquerque

In the morning I started early driving to Silver city, I drove South about 70 miles turned right he over the mountain Highway NM152.
This is a  75 MI drive from the turnoff. The trip took three hours there were several turns which are rated atonly 10 miles per hour. It would be an adventurous ride for a motorcyclist.
While driving through the mountains, I stopped off in a little campground to rest and went down and put my feet in a mountain stream. The were water sliders in the steam.
It was nice and cool. The air temperature in the mountains was about 40° cooler than back in Truth or Consequences. It's very lovely scenery lots of pine trees and lovely vistas.
soon I arrived in Silver City
Silver City main industry is a copper mine.  Driving in on Highway 52 from the mountains for several miles you can see a huge strip mine for copper which mars the landscape.
I nearly across town before I realized I was missing downtown. The city is sprawled out from its original dimensions, so it took a stop and check on Google maps to find downtown. I found the tourist bureau and I drove there. At the tourist bureau  I grabbed some brochures.  walked back out to the car put the brochures in the car and locked the car.
I crossed the bridge over what was once main street, but is now the Big Ditch creation of the big ditch.
My mission was to find some silver for Connie. I visited a few stores in the four block downtown.
In the army navy store I found an old radio similar to one my Uncle Ronald owns.

In a Episcopal thrift store, I found and purchased silver and gold for Connie.
A bracelet and ear studs marked Silver City.
The previous evening while still in Truth or consequences I checked the map and Google didn't announce any motels between Silver City and Albuquerque via the route over the Apache Forest. So I decided to just drive to Albuquerque even though it was over 300 miles. The
Along the way to Albuquerque I drove into Arizona while still in the Apache Forest and I drove through Alpine Arizona took a picture of the down town.
which is not large and bought gas and a snack and I drove on North several miles through pine forests and high desert.
Somewhere is outside of Alpine they are doing road construction where they blocked off when Lane and so I had to wait 15 to 20 minutes for my direction to be allowed to pass in the meantime it took some pictures.
Along the way I drove through the large radio telescope array in the New Mexico desert.
I got into Albuquerque about 7:00. I stopped to check Google to find the Unitarian Church and I drove to the church and then I use Google to find a Red Roof Inn nearby. When I arrived at the Red Roof Inn I found that there were exterior outlets although they were in hallways several feet from the parking lot but not too far from my extension cord so I booked the room, parked the car,  plugged it in to charge. I walked over the truck stop to try to get dinner. After dinner I turned in.

In the morning I got up I went into the hotel lobby for breakfast. I went back to the room gathered my stuff walked over to the car disconnected her from the plug and then I drove to the Unitarian Church. I arrived just before the first service there were a few people in the foyer and we had a nice service in which the minister talked about comparative religion.
after church I spoke with a woman whose husband is an astrophysicist at New Mexico university. And she told me that a good thing to see in Albuquerque is the Pueblo  cultural museum.
So I drove over to the Pueblo cultural museum to take a look.
I witnessed a native American dance.
Then I walked into the museum on display or several pots made by the pueblos there motifs were of the eagle and the hummingbird there was quite a few descriptions of the difficulties of being born and native Americans in the United States.
After I'd seen all the museum I left and decided to go downtown to see what downtown Albuquerque was like.
interesting fact is that in Las Cruces they have free parking downtown to make it easy for visitors and residents to go downtown to go to the museums in the shops but Albuquerque the public parking is paid even on Sunday so I drove off into the neighborhood just close by not a block away to park for free..
in the square there's a there were a couple of guys in the bandstand playing country and western music there was a lowrider car show and the square is filled with multiple jewelry shops with turquoise jewelry and silver jewelry etc there's some art studios lots of touristy stuff so I walked to the square through the side streets for a while and then I went back to the car.
Exciting that I'd seen everything I needed to see in Albuquerque I proceeded to drive home.
So drove East and Southeast until I got to Covington New Mexico where I found a Super 8 motel where it was easy to plug in the car I went to the dollar store and grabbed the TV dinner I went back to the hotel room and I listened to tales of the lone Ranger and then I went to bed.
The following day I basically just drove across Texas and New Mexico until I got home in Austin I stopped off on the way at Lake Travis narrows park to check out the water levels at the ramp found at the ramp at the park is about 50 feet from the water and you can't launch at the ramp because they got it blocked off.
