Wednesday drive to Albany NY

On Wednesday morning I got up having decided not to stay in New York City I had breakfast went out to the car and I drove West first looking at the map I found a route that would keep me out of the city and I drove that route I made my goal herriman State Park it's after a couple hours I was at Harriman State Park where I stopped to use restroom it's a pretty little ranger station they had no parking so I had to walk you know a few hundred feet from where I parked along the road after using restroom I went into the gift shop and I bought a clay coffee coaster.
Along the way I passed through a national forest which contained this church and church yard.

I continue to drive North along the Hudson River and I stopped at West point along the way where I spent a couple hours viewing the museum. While there I asked about marinas nearby and I was told that the one directly across from the college was private and may not have any slips but there was a larger Marina South along the river where I would probably have to station the boat if were I stop near west point on a boat to do a tour.
After leaving West point I drove North to Albany New York I stopped for lunch at a little town just a few hundred few miles north of West point and had a Philly cheese steak it was good. when I was getting close to Albany I stoppedto look for a charging station. I found one at the south side of downtown. I drove to that charging station. I plugged in the car and I was informed by the app that it would be a free charge .I started walking towards downtown where I had found a saloon. The dockside saloon downtown I figured I'd go there thinking it might have a sailboat motif I had to stop under the freeway to urinate cuz I couldn't find a restroom.
As a as I walked along I was sad to see a beautiful old church that was into disrepair the rose window up high was falling in and it was fenced off. 
I walked on to the Lock and Quay saloon on State Street. it's a nice place the food was good. I had shepherd's pie. After I had my shepherd's pie, I left the saloon and I walked a different route back to the car. I passed by a hotel that had a purple dog statue and took a picture of it.
I walked back to the car through another neighborhood they were having a party. I walked to the party I got back to the car it was almost fully charged so unplugged the car and I proceeded to drive West looking for a hotel after a couple of tries I finally found Knights inn where I stayed the night. After a couple hours I went outside to find that the parking  space in front of my room was empty. So I was able to park the car in front of my room and plug it in to charge by running the cable through the door.

The next morning, I left the motel and drove to the east entrance of the Erie Canal.

I tried to go sailing at Lake Somerville spent most of the morning trying to raise the mast. Once we had the mast up we went to launch the boat and found that the motor wouldn't run so we pulled the boat back out and I noticed in the morning that the bow eye was loose. On the way home there was some traffic on 290 coming in. I had to stop suddenly and since the boat wasn't really connected to the winch it slid forward past the winch and so now I have some gel coat to fix. Fort stockton texas I plugged in the car through the door into the room. El Paso, Texas at the Quality Inn. I ran the cable through the window which I could open and plug it in the room. Truth or consequences New Mexico I ran the cables through the window which I could open and plug it in the room. Albuquerque new mexico At the Red Roof Inn.. I parked close to an exterior plug plugged in the hallway, everything was good.  Crestview New Mexico at the super 8 I could open the window and run the cable through the window, plug it in the room. At The Quality Inn in Baton Rouge. I found an exterior plug by the pool charged the car there. In Lafayette Louisiana. I asked permission to run the cable through a door and plug the car in the hallway. In New Orleans, I stayed at a hotel. Decker lake near Austin Texas survey July 2025

Central Texas had had a lot of rain over 100 people had died in Kerrville due to flooding. So I thought perhaps Decker lake had been filled by the rain.  My friend Kai had taken his shallow draft trimaran out to the lake for sale. He was able to launch his boat easily but his boat is basically a canoe with amas in a trimaran design. So I drove out there on July 15th 2025. I parked outside the park and I walked down to the lake to do my survey and this is what I found. In this photo you can see that the water is about 4 ft below the dock beside the ramp  on the east side of the ramp there's actually a grass growing in the water of the ramp. The Eastern ramp was even worse as the city has dumped gravel at the base of the ramp to keep motor boaters from launching their boats only a light shallow draft boat can be launched from this ramp such as a kayak or canoe.  so I will not be planning to go sailing on the Decker lake.  The reason that the l...
